We  "St. Gregorios Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church Chennai"  is belonging to the Mylapore diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox church in Malankara (Kerala), which is an integral part of the Syrian Orthodox Church with the Patriarch of Antioch, His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas as its supreme head. The local head of the church in Malankara is the Catholicose of India, His Beatitude Baselios Thomas I, ordained by and accountable to the Patriarch of Antioch.

Under the  Mylapore Diocese of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox church, our church was inaugurated on Sunday, 27th November 2011 by
H.G. ISAAC MOR OSTHATHEOS, Metropolitan of Mylapore Diocese. Thirumeni also offered the Holy Qurbana and blessed the faithful prior to the inauguration. The kalpana of H. B. ABOON MOR BASELIUS THOMAS I CATHOLICOS was read during the Service. The new church is named after Parumala Thirumeni and will be known as 'St. Greogorios Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church'. It is currently functioning  at YMCA Hall, OMR, Perungudi on every suday.
